GloriaFood is closing on 30 April 2027: what UK takeaways should do now
GloriaFood, the free online ordering system used by thousands of takeaways and restaurants, closes on 30 April 2027. After that date, the ordering button on your website and your GloriaFood ordering links stop taking orders.
That sounds a long way off, but moving your online ordering takes a little time, and you don't want to be doing it in a rush. This guide covers what to save, what to look for in a replacement, and how to switch without missing an order.
Don't leave it until April
- Your menu takes time to check. Options, extras, meal deals and prices all need to be right before customers see them.
- Card payments need setting up. A new system usually needs your bank details and some checks before money can be paid out to you.
- Your printer and website need changing. Someone has to swap the ordering button on your website and connect your kitchen printer.
- Customers need time to get used to it. Switching on a quiet week is much easier than on a Friday night.
Most of this can be done while GloriaFood is still taking orders, so starting early costs you nothing.
What to save from GloriaFood
Before you switch, make a note of:
- Your full menu, with every option, extra and price.
- Your opening hours, including holidays.
- Your delivery areas, minimum order and delivery fees.
- Any promotions or discount codes you run.
- Your printer make and model.
- Who can edit your website, so the ordering button can be changed.
If you keep a list of customers to send offers to, only use it for marketing where customers agreed to it.
What to look for in a GloriaFood alternative
- Commission. Some systems take a percentage of every order. Check what you pay per order, not just per month.
- Where the money goes. Ideally customers pay into your own account, not the supplier's.
- Card fees. Ask for the full rate per card payment, all in.
- Kitchen printing. Orders should print automatically in the kitchen.
- Menu import. Retyping a big menu is slow and easy to get wrong.
- Running both side by side. You should be able to set everything up while GloriaFood still takes orders.
- Support you can talk to. Check who helps you when something goes wrong on a busy night, and in which language.
How switching to Gofood works
Gofood is a UK online ordering system for takeaways and restaurants, with setup and support in English and Chinese. Restaurants moving from GloriaFood get the Pro plan free for 3 months, and we copy the menu across.
- Create your Gofood account.
- Add your GloriaFood key from your GloriaFood admin, so we can copy your menu for you to check.
- Get ready: check your menu, connect Stripe for card payments, and set your hours, delivery areas and printer. GloriaFood keeps taking orders meanwhile.
- Press Switch to Gofood. Your 3 free months start now. Add the Gofood ordering button to your website and turn off GloriaFood ordering. We'll show you how.
There's £0 commission on your orders, and customers pay into your own Stripe account. See the GloriaFood alternative page for the full offer, or our pricing for plans and card fees.
In short
GloriaFood closes on 30 April 2027. Save your menu and settings, choose a replacement that doesn't take commission, and switch on a quiet week while GloriaFood still works. If you'd like help, talk to us in English or Chinese.
